About

Hi, my name is Albert Sun. I was born in Minnesota and grew up in Michigan. My parents are naturalized immigrants to the United States who came from China for graduate school. I’m really bad at writing about myself, but I’ll give it a go anyways.

In middle school, I started teaching myself HTML. Thanks to the nature of the internet, the sites from then are still online. You will never find them though. I started blogging around the same time, and the same thing applies to what I wrote then.

In high school, I was captain of the policy debate team. If I seem to know too much about aquatic invasive species, landmines, non-violent resistance, the Korematsu v. United States case or Zalmay Khalilzad’s writings in 1995, this is why.

I am an early adopter. I was the first person in my grade to get Facebook. (Sophomore year of high school) I went to a summer science camp at Michigan State University and came back with a shiny .edu e-mail address. I still remember (and miss) when the wall was a wiki. And among the first to get Gmail. (thanks Jeff Fang!)

Now, I am a Class of 2010 student at the University of Pennsylvania and Web Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Pennsylvanian. Where I work on different online projects.

(For now) I am an aspiring journalist. My majors are math and economics which seems to confuse the heck out of anyone I try to explain it to. I guess its because I’m less interested in journalism as a public service than as a study of how information gets from point A to point B.

If you want to get in touch, my e-mail is albert [at] albertsun.info.
On IRC I am albert_philly, you can find me idling in a bunch of freenode channels.
And if you glance over to the right and down you’ll see where else I can be found online.
